When say “Pakistan”, most people will think it’s a dangerous country that’s not at peace. However, Pakistan is my 135th country and as I visited there, I felt very safe as the people were kind and friendly. The scenery is one of the best and my favorite in my Central Asia trip. I mostly toured in North Pakistan and I can’t wait to be back even if I survived a car accident. It’s a gorgeous nation meant to be known by the world as a paradise on Earth.

When off to an adventure in the Northern Part of this country, here are things to do in North Pakistan:

1. Tour around Hunza Valley

The Hunza Valley is a gorgeous town 2,400 meters above sea level, this surely the best place to go in North Pakistan. It’s so high and near the sky; the clouds are easy to reach. It’s a wonderful place that you feel like its heaven on earth. With beautiful sceneries like stunning mountains, glacial lakes, and friendly locals; you want to come back.

2. Cross the Hussaini Suspension Bridge or a quarter of it

The Hussaini Suspension Bridge is one of the most adventurous and dangerous bridges in the world. With 407 steps, it’s not for the faint heart especially if it’s windy or if you’re afraid of the water. It’s an exciting and memorable thing to do in North Pakistan. However, you can just be in a few steps and take a picture. The view is absolutely gorgeous as the Passu Cones are at the back.

4. Drive along Khunjerab Pass or the Karakoram Highway

The highest border crossing in the world is Khunjerab Pass which is about 4,733 meters above sea level. The mountainous scenery of the highway is incredibly beautiful that you would definitely want to make a stop (like me) and take pictures. With the view of lakes and glaciers, this is truly a thing to do in North Pakistan.

5. Visit Altit Fort

Altit Fort is a UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage located in a town in Hunza valley. This gorgeous historical place is surely one of the best things to do in North Pakistan.  Withstanding attacks and natural calamities for more than a thousand years, it is a sight to behold. There are gardens and orchards too. Plus the locals around here were friendly.

5. Take a picture with K2

The tallest mountain in the Earth is Mount Everest. Do you know what’s second? Well, it’s K2 in Pakistan. Also known as Mount Godwin-Austen or Chhogori, it is 8,600 meters above sea level. It’s a mountaineer dream to climb this place, however, since it’s going to be a bit difficult you can just take a picture with this glorious mountain. It’s a memorable thing to do in North Pakistan.

6. Eat local cuisine

Trying the local cuisine is one of the best things to do in North Pakistan. There are many shops along the road and maybe you could ask for your tour guide to recommend a delicious Pakistani cuisine. I got to eat a lot and observe how they cook their food. It’s absolutely mouth-watering, I miss it.

7. Relax near a lake

There are many glacial lakes in the North of Pakistan. I went to Attabad Lake and it was very beautiful and the pictures don’t do justice. The beauty of the lake will take your worries and stress away along with Pakistani food and refreshments. This one is also created by an accident from a landslide. A tragedy has become a miracle!

8. Wear Pakistani Clothes

One of the best things to do when you are in another country is to buy local’s clothes or at least try them on. Pakistani clothing is really beautiful, so when you come to this part of the world, be sure to ready your cash or credit as you shop for yourself or for souvenirs.

9. Be in awe of Saiful Muluk National Park

At Kaghan Valley likes a national park filled that has a mesmerizing lake and a perfect view of the Western Himalayas. It is home to leopards, weasels, lynxes to name a few. There are food stalls available near the lake so you won’t be hungry. You can also try boating on the lake. Surely, this is one of the best things to do in North Pakistan. You will go home in awe and wonder of this gorgeous country.
