1. Only bring stuff that you are sure to use. Stick to your colors and remember to layer.

2. Do not buy a mega-size bag - your chances of overpacking rises!

3. Pack a daypack inside your full-size bag.

4. Roll clothes and place vertically into your bag so you can see all without removing the ones on top.

5. Choose clothes made of lightweight material. Merino wool or synthetic material is ideal.

6. Consider the quality, thickness, weight, wrinkles, transparency, and texture of clothes.

7. Pick low-maintenance clothes that are comfortable, folds up small, coordinates easily, and don't show stains.

8. Pack enough clothes for a week then wash once a week.

9. Bring double-duty clothes. A sarong can be a headscarf, shawl, pillow, picnic blanket, tablecloth, changing room screen, and drape for a bunk bed.

10. Pack more tops in the winter and replace them with dresses in the summer.

11. Pack more tops than bottoms.

12. Layout everything you plan to pack but ask yourself why you are bringing it. If an item falls on the "what if this happens" category, it may be unnecessary.
